Johnson Bottini defended a charitable foundation after the U.S. Government obtained temporary restraining order freezing approximately $50 million in assets by informing a federal judge that the foundation involved an illegal tax shelter/ponzi scheme. After notice was given and Johnson Bottini was able to defend the foundation, the federal court set aside the temporary restraining order the case was dismissed. Thereafter, the individual who helped establish the foundation was sued in several lawsuits all over the country. Plaintiffs in these lawsuits sought millions of dollars in alleged damages. Johnson Bottini successfully resolved these cases with its clients paying very little, if anything.
